One

So it was decided after we came back from our trip that we wanted a loo in the van. Probably still just book campsites but its just handy for when the odd sunny weekend comes around and we decide to just go away. Drew out a few floor plans and decided this (Below) was the best for us.

First was to start the strip down. It was all quite easy to get out and only took a few hours.

Spray glue and more insulation for areas that need re done. Some new 12v wire as well as lights and switches will all be getting moved as well as needing lights on the loo

Aldi multi-tool. Well the 2nd one as the first did not like being used in the rain. Its a handy little bit of kit

First job was take out the two rear side windows and replace with steel. This side will have a wall in the middle and the other would be way to large for the loo.

The 240v hookup can stay as the wall will be just behind that line of black tape on the floor. Just need to re route the plugs and shorten the rolled up wire as the was on the other side

Decided to ply line the lower walls and just carpet rather than pine clad. Thinking the stretch carpet may retain the heat better. Here is the cut out for the window drawn on.

Next get the Aldi multi-tool to work

Still to put strips of L shaped edging round the window to hide van bodywork. This will get done after the carpet goes up to the frame can be a feature.

And the other side

Decided on the slat bed again as its easier to operate and quicker also. Under bed storage will just be bedding. The bed is 6'2" long and two inch short of 4' wide

Split opening for the lid also what makes it lighter to lift and operate.

This is the area for the loo. Back wall will be about 6" away fro the back door frame. This is to allow access to the lights and i can also have hanging storage on the outer side of loo wall. The other side will be deeper at 16" to accommodate the leisure battery and all 12v fuses then shelve the wall for tools, awning and any other crap i dont want to store in the van

Quick basic drawing of how the loo will sit. The green line on the floor will be an angled door for better access. Area in from i will just shelf that and ad some lower cupboards for shoes and the likes.

Frame up. and gives an idea of space. I could have went a tad thinner but the gap next to the loo can hold the flush chemicals

Outer wall skin is up. Used 12mm ply here as it will be stronger for any shelving a put up. Back wall over other door with be 12mm also

You can see there is plenty room to use the loo. My left knee may rub the door but ill live with that. This is basically just a 35" box. See on the right of loo a door. This is a hatch i added to get access to the loo cassette.

Put a little window in for some natural light. Not a lot gets in but it feels less claustrophobic having natural light
